Community
Bristol, Cycling, Cystic Fibrosis
My creative work has its roots in my connection to the various communities I identify with. These include Bristol and the cycling scene and music scene, my connection to education and DIY, and occupying space in the Cystic Fibrosis community. It is important to my approach to design that I do not work in isolation; I believe that designers need the community and the community needs designers. There is a strong narrative through the projects in this section. This started with an exchange of ideas between cyclists in Bristol, through the Every Bike in Bristol project, which was then picked up and refined through Boneshaker magazine and made visible to a wider audience. I then circled back to some of these themes when embarking on my deeply personal project, the film Me & My Lungs, which relates to my identity as a person living with Cystic Fibrosis.
